El Frente Sandinista ratificó en un Congreso virtual
al binomio de Daniel Ortega y su esposa Rosario Murillo como la fórmula presidencial, con la cual el partido rojinegro participará en los comicios del 7 de noviembre, manteniendo el esquema de sucesión dinástica familiar en el poder.
Murillo iría a su segundo período como vicepresidenta, mientras que Ortega pretende lograr su tercera reelección consecutiva y por ende, su cuarto período presidencial.
Además, esta es la octava vez que Ortega es formalizado como candidato del Frente Sandinista, ya que no ha permitido que nadie de esta misma organización le compita tanto en sus candidaturas a la presidencia de la república, como al puesto de secretario general del partido rojinegro.
